FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Track your bowling speed with YORKER AI, along with line, length, swing, spin, 3D trajectory and batting analysis. These are answers about the app, for bowlers, batters and coaches: what you need to start, what it measures on every ball, DRS, clips, sharing sessions and when you can get it. Questions about bowling itself, like how to bowl fast or how to measure bowling speed, are answered in the guides.

Getting started

What do I need to get started?

An iPhone 12 or later on iOS 18 or later, a tripod and a full-length pitch with stumps at both ends. Put the phone behind the bowler’s end, line up both sets of stumps and bowl. Setup takes about thirty seconds.

Which iPhones does it work on?

iPhone 12 or later, running iOS 18 or later. The tracking runs on the phone itself, which is why it needs one of these. There isn’t an Android version.

Do I have to tap between balls?

No. Once you’ve lined up the stumps and started the session, YORKER AI picks up each delivery on its own, measures it and clips it. Leave the phone alone and keep bowling until you’re done.

Does YORKER AI work offline?

Yes. Tracking runs on your iPhone, so every ball is measured as you bowl, with or without signal. You only need an internet connection to sync: your clips and results upload on their own once you’re back online.

Measuring

How does YORKER AI measure my bowling speed?

With your iPhone behind the bowler’s end, a neural network trained on cricket footage finds the ball in every frame. The app builds a 3D scene from the pitch and stumps, and a physics simulation recreates the ball’s 3D trajectory. Your release speed is read from that trajectory.

Is YORKER AI a speed gun app?

Yes. It checks the release speed of every ball, in mph or km/h, from an iPhone on a tripod, using the camera instead of radar. Each ball also gets its line, length, swing, spin, 3D trajectory and a clip. Our speed gun guide explains how each one works.

What does it track on every ball?

Bowling speed at release, line and length, where the ball bounced, swing, spin and release height. You also get its 3D trajectory, which you can replay from any angle, and a clip cut for you. Batters see the same on every ball bowled to them.

Does it work for spin bowling?

Yes. YORKER AI measures spin as well as swing, so spinners get more than a bowling speed: line and length, where the ball bounced and release height too. Replay its 3D trajectory to see how far it turned.

Can batters use it?

Yes, with batting analysis. Record your session and every ball bowled to you is tracked: bowling speed, line, length, swing, spin and 3D trajectory. Pick a bowler and a type of ball, say a good length outside off, and watch each one back. Full batting analytics are coming soon.

Reviews and clips

How does DRS on your phone work?

You make the call first, out or not out. YORKER AI then reviews the ball, checking contact, pitching, impact and wicket one at a time, and gives the decision with a 3D replay.

Can I watch my deliveries back?

Yes. Every delivery is clipped for you, and you swipe through a session like Reels, each ball with its bowling speed, line and length. Filter to find the ones you want, or cut your favourites into a film with the numbers on screen.

Sessions and sharing

Can I share sessions with my team or coach?

Yes, with a Huddle. Find friends nearby in a tap, start a Huddle, and the sessions you share land in one place for the squad or your coach. You can also download a film of any clips and send it anywhere.

Can several bowlers share one session?

Yes. YORKER AI groups the balls by who bowled them, using the way each player runs in. Tag each group with a name once, then filter by bowler to see one player’s bowling speeds, lines and lengths.
